10:00 am: Spring Litter Pick

Saturday 16 Mar 2019

The Preston Trust committee would, once again, like to invite you all to come and help pick up the litter around the village and across the parish.

Do, please, come and join us on The Green, on Saturday, 16 March, at 10.00am. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and do, please, bring your rubber gloves! The HiViz jackets and ‘litter-picker’ tools have been requested from NHDC. As usual, we will work in pairs along each lane and footpath, and then bring the filled plastic bags back to The Green.

This short and simple exercise, twice a year, really does help us to clear away the ongoing nuisance of litter in our ‘green and pleasant’ patch. The long established ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ campaign is organising this year a new venture: ‘The Great British Spring Clean’ from March 22nd – April 23rd. The organisers are hoping that c. 500,000 people across the nation will pick up litter in their own areas, concentrating particularly on the ‘single use plastics’. At long last, people are becoming more aware of the ugliness and the danger of litter of all sorts, and the possibility of recycling of materials is being organised.

Just come along, please, and lend a hand with our capable team here, this March. Many thanks.

Liz Hunter, PT committee member.
