At our service at All Saints’ last Sunday we celebrated the saints and we also celebrated the ministry of Ann Males in the parish and her contribution to the community in Whitwell. It was a very special occasion for us all. Ann was nominated as a modern day saint by the congregation and although I know she was apprehensive about the celebrations afterwards she (and John) certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. At the end of August, Holiday Club was held at Whitwell Pavilion as usual. This year the main story on which we based our activities, craft, songs and games was Jonah and the Whale. We made whales, painted whales and discovered amazing facts about whales and we made some links between Jonah’s story in the Old Testament and Jesus’ life in the New Testament. … Read More

As I write, the general election is only a week away and the story dominating the front pages is the tragic loss of lives and homes and hopes of the many people who used to live in Grenfell Tower, the high-rise block of flats in west London, devastated by fire.
