10:00 am: ‘Walks and Talks’ in our parish10:00 am: ‘Walks and Talks’ in our parish The Preston Trust: ‘Walks and Talks’ in our parish Having been immersed in the research and writing of our Neighbourhood Plan in recent months, some of us have realised once again how much of important ecological and historical value we have, in this small parish. In order to share this knowledge with any interested parishioner, the Preston Trust has now organised visits to three sites, this summer/autumn. These ‘Walks and Talks’ are all free. We have very kindly now been given permission by three owners to view their properties, which are judged by the relevant government departments to be of national value. Saturday, July 28th: Princess Helena College, a Grade2* Listed Building and a Grade2* Registered Landscape Park and Gardens, guided by Mike Kellard and Liz Hunter Saturday, August 25th: Tudor House, Poynders End, a Grade 2* Listed Building, and its octagonal Dairy, a Grade 2 Listed Building, guided by Colin Heathcote Saturday, September 29th: Wain Wood, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, guided by Lee Williams, Forester, Pilkington Farms Partnership, Kings Walden Bury Estate Please meet on The Green at 10.00am for the first 2 visits, and at 9.45am for the 3rd visit. Each visit will last for c. 2 hours. We would like the group, on each occasion, to be not less than 10 people, and not more than 25; accompanied youngsters over 10 years are very welcome; no dogs, please. We will walk to these sites, meet the owners or their representatives, have the opportunity to discuss these properties and seek to understand why they are so highly valued, and then walk back to The Green. These three really are our ‘Top Three Special Places’, in this parish, on our own doorstep! Each is well worth a guided visit. Do please come along and see them! As these are private properties, booking for the visits is essential. Please email me on elizabethhunter671@btinternet.com, or telephone 433859, or drop a note into my letter box at Rose Cottage, saying which visit/s you would like to join. Many thanks. Liz Hunter, Preston Trust committee member The Village Green |

The Preston Trust would like to invite you to a talk by Andrew Lambourne of LADACAN on Thursday 20th September at 8.00pm in the Village Hall. Andrew has asked if there are any particular topics you would like him to cover or any questions you’d like to ask? If so please email us at prestonvillagetrust@gmail.com or 01462 434403 We are really looking forward to welcoming you on the evening with cheese and wine.
